Farmhouse, Pitmedden

Pitmedden House and Garden lie in the heart of a formal, managed landscape.

Pitmedden means 'the middle portion of land'. A series of enormous parks, fields and woodland compartments were laid out in the mid-1600s, creating the basic framework of the estate. They formed a grand setting for the house and walled garden. Over the next 200 years, these great enclosures were subdivided into smaller agricultural fields and the area around the house was transformed into rolling parkland.

Agricultural artfacts are contained in the Museum of Farming Life.
